Data sources
Every dataset that feeds a Rasmere report, with attribution and refresh cadence.
Summary
Every figure in a Rasmere report is derived from public sources. Each source is listed below with its licence, refresh cadence, and the role it plays in the platform.
PlanIt national feed
Role. Primary firehose of new planning applications and decisions across English Local Planning Authorities.
Refresh. Drained on a one-minute schedule; new decisions land in the index within a few minutes of publication on the source portal.
Licence. Aggregated public planning data sourced from individual LPA portals.
Local Planning Authority portals
Role. Direct per-council scraping (predominantly Idox Public Access deployments) provides officer reports, decision notices, and document metadata where the national feed is incomplete.
Refresh. Continuous incremental queue with per-LPA backoff. Historical backfill runs in parallel.
Licence. Public planning record published by the relevant council.
ONS postcodes
Role. Resolves a UK postcode to its admin_district, which we map to the corresponding LPA for grounded probability calculations.
Provider. postcodes.io (Office for National Statistics open data).
Licence. Open Government Licence v3.0; contains OS data © Crown copyright and database right.
Google Places
Role. Autocomplete and geocoding for the address input on the report form. Only the resolved place ID and coordinate are persisted.
Provider. Google Maps Platform.
Licence. Google Maps Platform Terms of Service.
LPA registry
Role. The canonical list of UK Local Planning Authorities with their portal type, slug, and operational status.
Provider. Compiled and maintained by Rasmere against the official register published by the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government and individual council websites.
Refresh. Reviewed on local government reorganisation events (boundary changes, council mergers).
What is not used
Rasmere does not purchase agent-reported pipelines, broker lists, or third-party "approval prediction" datasets. The product is built only on the public planning record and the open reference data needed to align it to your site.
Corrections
If you spot a case in the index that disagrees with the council's published record, email team@rasmere.com with the reference number and the council. We re-fetch from source and correct within one working day.
